Max acquired a bank card with her name on it in The Angel Experiment; however, it is only mentioned in that book. The character designs are all very good, and distinctly Japanese-manga-y. I especially like Max and Iggy, who look older than I imagined and both got super sexy. Fang looks off to me, and Nudge looks like a ganguro girl, but whatever Max's hair color also varies by adaptation. In the manga it is blonde, in the Marvel miniseries it is red, and in the film it is platinum blonde. His star sign, according to Angel, is Scorpio (revealed in the epilogue of FANG among materials from his blog). I feel like a little bit of the internal feelings/thinking is lost in this version over the original, which is interesting because many Japanese manga have quite a bit of internal thought. The emphasis on this version of Maximum Ride is definitely fast-paced action sequences, which it does well. Volume 2 was released on October 27, 2009, and features Fang on the cover. It completes The Angel Experiment and at the end, there is a preview of FANG.

Together, the comic series adapted the first three books of the series. There are significant differences from the books. Rather than avian wings, the characters have wings made of a metal alloy. Max also has the ability to fly extremely fast, her top speed at roughly 240–250 miles per hour (verified by the Director through a microchip in her arm), or over 350 miles per hour in a fast dive.

Every story is different because the characters in the story are different. Maximum Ride is a little girl, about 14 years of age. In this story, Maximum Ride: The Final Warning, the author James Patterson shows how courageous little children can be. This story is about a place called The School and of her friends. They are the Gasman (Gazzy who is 8 years old), Iggy (13 years old) and Fang who is 14 years of age. This story is a little different because here are children who can fly! Fang claims to have a soft spot for Angel and treats her like his little sister. He is protective with her and is weak against her Bambi eyes.
