The crew commentary is the perfect partner to Scott’s, giving us a superb mixture of on-set anecdotes and discussions of some of the film’s aesthetic choices.

Documentary: "Dangerous Days" (SD, 211 minutes) - This insanely comprehensive making-of by longtime Scott documentarian Charles de Lauzirika runs not only longer than the feature film itself, but at over three hours it hogs the entire second disc. It contains never-before-seen added/extended scenes, added lines, new and improved special effects, director and filmmaker commentary, an all-new 5. People looking for ‘3D pop’, for hyper-real clarity, for a full-on surround impact are going to be disappointed, but then again, if you’re expecting a 30 year old film. Vangelis' legendary score is at last fully immersive, with select instruments often directed to specific channels instead of the whole thing sounding like sonic mush emanating only from the fronts.

When you also take into account that Blade Runner is a future noir thriller, shot mostly at night, in dusty, smoky, and rainy environments, then you can understand that the epic clarity of Blu-ray that is afforded to modern cinema doesn’t apply to this film. There’s some interesting chat about different versions of scenes,Similarly, as Deckard performs his question test on Rachael, her voice actually appears to be coming from the upper right quadrant of your screen - exactly where it’s supposed to. Bass levels are massive during moments such as the thunderstorm as Rachael looks at Deckard’s family photos while he sleeps. All four discs are housed in a 2-disc black UHD case with an identical slip cover with two discs stacked on top of each other. This is despite the fact that the film’s dramatic neon lighting and many artificial light sources have been given a huge boost in saturation and brightness.

Noise is not a problem (even on the darkest areas of the picture, as well as the numerous effects shots). Of course, this version of the film was taken from weak elements, so the often fuzzy picture, weak blacks and pale colors are to be expected. I'm going to be running this disc again and again just to soak in all of the little things I never noticed before. We will introduce you exclusively to Newpay finance products provided by NewDay Limited under this Introducer Appointed Representative arrangement. For the week that ended on February 3rd, Warner Home Entertainment's Blade Runner 2049 stayed on top of the Blu-ray-only media chart.

So all I’ll say here is that it’s simply one of the greatest - and best looking - sci-fi films ever made; a stunning and remarkably timeless reminder of just what a visionary director Sir Ridley Scott was back in his relative youth. As these versions are accessible via seamless branching they share much of the same material, and appear to utilize a master identical to 'The Final Cut. As 'The Final Cut' forms the centerpiece of the package, I'll focus on that presentation, and then offer some additional thoughts on the other versions.

Even in its zillion different forms that suffered a zillion different alterations (The added/subtracted narration! It also allows him to tweak some of the editing and effects that he was unable to complete to his satisfaction at the time of the film's original 1982 theatrical release. What you do get is the film looking pristine, as good as it possibly could look, and on Blu-ray, there will be no nit-picks about digital artefacts or compression to mar your viewing experience. Even fans who come to this release most interested in the older versions of the movie are unlikely be disappointed. Home Entertainment has sent us a brand new trailer for the upcoming 4K Blu-ray release of dierctor Ridley Scott's classic sci-fi thriller Blade Runner, which will be available for purchase on September 5.The old Dolby mixes of 'Blade Runner' were gimmicky, often bleeding select frequencies to the rear speakers in the most obvious ways possible (whenever a spinner would fly overhead -- whoosh! Such moments are incredibly rare, though; for the most part this is not just the best Blade Runner has sounded, but actually one of my favorite sound mixes period. For more about Blade Runner and the Blade Runner Blu-ray release, see Blade Runner Blu-ray Review published by Ben Williams on December 31, 2007 where this Blu-ray release scored 5. Then you meet Leon and his work clothes now have a notable crinkly plastic-like look like a cheap uniform on an old toy making him look even more artificial.
