Top notes are Blue Hyacinth, Orange Blossom and Jabuticaba; middle notes are Honeysuckle, Jasmine, Orchid and Mahonia; base notes are Ambrette (Musk Mallow), Woody Notes, Plum Blossom and Paperbark. I thought it was opening with my dreaded flower the Jasmine as it is pretty strong - but I was wrong and it is a mega blast of hyacinth and I am a great fan of this flower however, od'ing on it though can cause headaches! This mini is the bottom one of a set, and is definitely the one that caught my eye: this rainbow bottle is a drop of perfection!
Spraying it feels as if I've indulged in an intoxicating floral cocktail, one both shaken and stirred. The only positive about this perfume was its longevity, it prolonged the shower freshness for a few hours, so I suppose it was an OK solution for my hot Greek summers. Needless to say I am perplexed by the popularity of this fragrance and also of the glowing reviews from sophisticated perfume admirers. It is one of those scent you capture on a woman passing by, a flowery, green whiff of distant, exotic lands which keeps you wonder what, what on earth she's wearing? You really have to like white flowers to enjoy this, I think, but it has many different notes which make it more sophisticated than most white florals.
It is made up of almost two hundred stainless steel plates, welded together so seamlessly that it appears as an unbroken polished surface (shaped like a giant bean, which is its nickname). I think this smells much "younger" than most floral perfumes, but it seems I might be in a minority on that one.Fast forward to the end of college and I was eager to rekindle my love of this scent, and all perfume in general, but I found something about it had changed. Nor laelia orchid, nor pink honeysuckle, nor Japanese mahonia, nor Natal plum blossom, nor golden melaleuca, nor zebrano wood nor ambrette seed. It smells like the humidity and rain and all the tropical flowers and how'd they smell after the rain. Thought I would love this based on the notes and description - but unfortunately it reminds me of cat urine - such a shame! I currently have an old spray mini (probably the one Portia had) but it doesn’t quite smell right, I feel like this is a perfume that can easily go off.
