Are you looking for a way to deepen your spiritual practice while also prioritizing your emotional well-being? If so, you may be interested in exploring the concept of emotionally healthy spirituality. In addition, it’s important to be intentional about your relationships, setting healthy boundaries and communicating openly and honestly with those around you. This book is truly a sweet, compassionate invitation to encounter God, but it can read as a sobering challenge to evaluate the depth and authenticity of your spiritual journey. Obviously, I am a huge fan. As modern Christian books go, I would dare to venture this is the best of the bunch.... In fact, I would even argue that the topics explored in this book cover most of the spiritual challenges that other Christian authors/ pastors have dedicated their lives (and careers) to trying to figure out. Well said Sarah! I heard that Emotionally Healthy Church was good before reading this too. I had a hard time pin-pointing why exactly this book was a bit hard to read and your comment expressed it well about it being a little too in depth about the spiritual practices of the monks rather than a more concentrated focus on the Bible. I think there is a healthy balance that comes in valuing our feelings as healthy indicators given to us by God rather than relying too much on them and as you said prioritizing them over the leading of the Holy Sprit. Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment. I was happy to read your thoughts on the book! Reply Imagine leading a church where every staff, leader, and volunteer knows how to communicate clearly. Imagine a culture, where everyone feels safe to tell the truth and has the skills needed to do so. Imagine the unity that is possible when every voice is heard.Eventually, God awakened him to a biblical integration of emotional health and the spiritual practice of slowing down and quieting your life to experience a firsthand relationship with Jesus. It created nothing short of a spiritual revolution in Scazzero, in his church, and now in thousands of other churches.

It is the ability to manage your emotions in a healthy way, which includes recognizing, expressing, and regulating them appropriately. Centering prayer is an unbiblical and dangerous practice. It can put a person in an altered state of consciousness and open him up to a spiritual connection that is not in harmony with Scripture. I truly enjoy your blog and wanted to nominate you for the Liebster Award. If you choose to accept, you can read about it in the post below. Thank you for faithfully pointing your readers to the Creator! Blessings! This most often comes through the development of axioms - short, memorable phrases that capture the essence of truth in simple ways. Christian spirituality, without an integration of emotional health, can be deadly—to yourself, your relationship with God, and the people around you. (7)Upon completion, you will be given a detailed description of your stage of emotional & spiritual maturity and next steps for your journey. In this book Scazzero outlines his journey and the signs of emotionally unhealthy spirituality. Then he provides seven biblical, reality-tested ways to break through to the revolutionary life Christ meant for you. This means being clear about what you will and will not tolerate in your relationships, your work, and your spiritual practices. By integrating biblical principles into our lives, we can cultivate emotional resilience and maturity. When you trust in Him, you can experience peace and joy that transcends circumstances. Biblical Integration of Emotional Health

A good discipleship course will not only teach you about the Bible and theology but also provide you with practical tools to help you deal with your emotions in a healthy way. The workbook includes exercises, discussion questions, and practical tips that will help you apply the principles of emotionally healthy spirituality to your daily life. This is very rare in todays society and with this being said you can really feel the genuiness of the program and vision. This section will explore the journey towards emotional health, including recognizing emotionally unhealthy spirituality and embracing emotional health. Recognizing Emotionally Unhealthy Spirituality There are seven marks of deep transforming discipleship according to Scazzero. Naturally, he devotes the majority of his time in this book defining each mark while sharing some hands-on tools to help with each. He also is careful to develop Biblical and theological premises for each mark as well. Undoubtedly there could be much written here about each of these healthy discipleship traits, but I feel that there are a couple that stand out and need to be mentioned.
