Since the Dream Cards are double-sided, shuffle them thoroughly (by rotating and/ or flipping them) and place them on the Bed. Place the Headboard to cover one of the two Elements. Covered Elements are not used during the game.

At the beginning of each round, the dreamer wears the sleep mask (or closes their eyes) and falls into slumber with their own unique dream. The other players are secretly dealt their role cards which determine whether they are good or bad spirits, changing sides as the game goes on. The biggest hurdle for most players is putting on that blindfold. It’s pretty intimidating to be the one at the table with dulled senses, and it feels kinda surreal. You’ve also got a lot of pressure – everyone is looking at you, giving you clues, expecting you to get the right answers. All the while you know deep down you’re going to screw it up and look like a fool. If there is a difference of two or more dream cards, they score one point for each card on the side with the fewest cards.The dreamer scores one point for each correct guess, as well as two extra points if they are able to recount all of the correct dream cards when recounting their dream. When you think of party games, you usually think of loud music, red cups, and pookah shells. What you don’t think of is being blindfolded while your friends yell random words at you, which is exactly what When I Dream brings to the table. Boogeymen always want the Dreamer to guess incorrectly, and earn 1 point per wrong guess at the end of a round. And actually, it’s quite the “brain game” for the dreamer. They will be listening, guessing and deciphering who’s who, all while trying to remember every guess they give.

Setting Up the Game As a fairy, you’re trying to get someone to guess one word out of the 171,476 words in the English language. But if that wasn’t hard enough, you also want to give clues that out the boogeymen. Either by refuting their clue, or making it impossible for the Dreamer to get it wrong.
