About this deal
Don't apply in temperatures below 5°C, in damp conditions or if rain is likely before the product has dried. The damage caused includes the back wall of the house, the UPVC french doors, the lower part of the spindles around the deck, the planters, and lifting weights and the cats water bowl. For spray application, use of either the Cuprinol Fence Spray or Cuprinol Power Sprayer are recommended.
It sounds as though the protective layer of the previously applied Garden Shades is stopping the new coat from adhering. Cuprinol Garden Shades has been specially developed to colour and protect sheds, fences and other garden wood. Hi John, thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we're sorry to find out that you didn't have a great experience with our product.Having purchased some cuprinol garden shades, I decided to paint my lawn edging sleepers in cool marble, weather proof with a 6 year guarantee. Ducksback product when rained 2 days after it was applied ( which was the night before last) oddly has marked all of my belongings that are within the parameter of the decking. It is free-flowing to enable a smooth finish that gets into all the gaps and allows the profile of the wood to be a maintained. We'd recommend brushing over the surface with a stiff bristle brush to break down the waxes following a clean down to remove any residue. Put the first coat on and the old surface seems to be repelling the new paint and gives it a dappled appearance.
Garden Shades is a water based product, so an application of water and detergent should provisionally be used. Cuprinol ducksback fence paint is not as good as they make out , keeps washing off , brand new panels , sick off painting it , worst paint I have ever come across , been in building trade over 35 years . Hi Val, thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we're sorry to find out that you didn't have a great experience with Garden Shades. Cuprinol Garden Shades offers a rich colourful finish that seals and protects a huge range of garden surfaces including sheds, fences, terracotta, brick and stone! More like an off-white, I thought it might darken down with drying, but I believe it actually got lighter. As its sprayable, it also needs to be of low viscosity and will be runnier than other traditional paints.
Overspraying surrounding areas can be minimized by avoiding spraying in windy conditions and by using cardboard or plastic as a shield. Any overspray should be cleaned up immediately (whilst still wet) with water and household detergent. Its special pigments ensure a rich colour and allow the natural texture of the wood grain to shine through. As Garden Shades often goes on directly to the wood, without a primer, sometimes it will soak deep into the wood and this can create the need for a third coat. Wood preservers that are advertised as being waterproof and resistant to weathering often contain wax, oil, silicone or a combination of these.
To avoid difficulties it is good practice to acknowledge how much time you can commit to a project in one straight run and not to attempt too much; Divide the task into hourly chunks and paint the first coat on a section of the project, perhaps one or two sides of the shed.
