About this deal

After the movie we had a fashion show, my friend Amanda wore my big sisters prom dress along with her candy necklace. I didn’t think of this, the girls came up with the idea to tie the first candy as an anchor so the treats would not just fall off the other end as they string more treats on. I would use it as a garland and then I would keep it in the freezer so that I could use it again next year. To enable personalised advertising (like interest-based ads), we may share your data with our marketing and advertising partners using cookies and other technologies.

The only other items I needed to make this edible necklace (besides the edible items), were the elastic thread and large sewing needed.

Fruit loops (or any kind of generic colourful loopy cereal) are a popular choice, especially for younger children.

The Inspired Home's mission is to inspire, inform and encourage you to make your house into a home, lead a balanced and healthy lifestyle and to create moments to celebrate and connect with your friends and family. These rainbow edible necklaces are not only a fun craft to make with the kids but could also be bagged up and handed out at classroom parties, party favors, or even a craft to do at a birthday party. This would be a really good activity for a kids party, or just something to keep the kids entertained on a rainy afternoon. They do however love dried fruit so I thought it would be fun to recreate a candy necklace without using candy. It lasted about 5 to 10 minutes before “we” ate the cheerios:) Either way, it was fun to create and it does keep the kids occupied for a while. If you have a wedding in your future, this is just the most adorable edible flower candy necklace that I’ve seen.

It’s a fun craft that is great for helping little ones practice their fine motor skills (such as picking things up with their little fingers and threading them). Your daughter looks precious wearing her necklace and I know that I wouldn’t be able to tell her no when she wanted to eat the hearts. They’ll still love the sweetness of this DIY edible jewelry, but it won’t have the same amount of sugar as candy does. We had popcorn, goldfish, craisins and cheerios for our snacks – I had them lined up in different colored bowls on the table and the kids could pick which ones they wanted on their necklaces. While some candies like the iconic Blow Pops became a sensation because of their dual nature, others like candy necklaces offered a unique mix of function and flavor.
