About this deal

I get that it was a feature built into the place, but how was something like the lift so well hidden that they'd never seen it in their whole lives living there? A boy is found, moments from death, and taken in by a kindly family, but he refuses to speak of who he truly is. Riley did a wonderful job of integrating past and present stories, making every character authentic and believable. This is my favourite of the series so far, even though it arguably has the most plot holes/annoyances (I’ll get back to that in clearly marked spoilerish sections later on). In book two, sister Ally investigates her connection to Grieg’s iconic music for Ibsen’s play ‘Peer Gynt’.

Izabela journeys with the Heitor de Silva Costa, an architect/engineer who undertakes the ambitious project of erecting a statue of Jesus on the Corcovado mountain, at the foot of which is incidentally the site of palatial house of Izabela. Each book is the story of one of the sisters as they trace their origins all over the world in spellbinding tales of love and loss. There she takes a job doing what she loves: caring for animals on the vast and isolated Kinnaird estate, employed by the enigmatic and troubled Laird, Charlie Kinnaird.I know Kreeg's dad, Cronus, was a language teacher, but it's mentioned that Kreeg didn't show much interest in his language lessons so I would find it very weird that Atlas would address him in French.

I'm just reading the third book in this great series of books about the seven sisters and wanted to be sure I had the next ones so I didn't have to wait to continue. However, the beauty of writing about the girls is that each of them have their own unique strengths and weaknesses. To the surprise of everyone, it is the missing sister who Pa Salt has chosen to entrust with the clue to their pasts.

This felt a little anti-climactic and it was a shame because my favourite characters disappeared from the novel. After the death of her father - Pa Salt, an elusive billionaire who adopted his six daughters from around the globe - Tiggy D’Aplièse, trusting her instincts, moves to the remote wilds of Scotland. However, I am happy that I managed to get through the first part to get to the historic part, because it was definitely better.Izabela inadvertently falls in love with Laurent as he sculpts her and soon their budding romance grows to a crescendo and they declare their undying love to each other just before she goes back home and marries Gustavo Aires Carabal, a man she is not at all in love with. The Seven Sisters is a sweeping epic tale of love and loss – the first in a unique, spellbinding series of seven books, based on the legends of the Seven Sisters star constellation – Lucinda Riley showcases her storytelling talent like never before. Staying with her godmother, a member of the infamous Happy Valley set, on the shores of beautiful Lake Naivasha, she meets Bill Forsythe, a notorious bachelor and cattle farmer with close connections to the proud Maasai tribe. I am completely and utterly baffled why something so unbelievable could go ahead and snatch a couple of awards.

This kind of retrofitting felt so sloppy and forced that my knee-jerk reaction was to sympathize with Gustavo the rest of the story and despise Izabela and Laurent. For me to enjoy a story, I just have to have some sort of faith and connection with the characters in the story being told. I am finding the guy, Fioriano, I have no idea how to spell his name, that Maia meets in Rio, to be really quite creepy, quite predatory. I tried so hard to find something to like about this book as it came highly recommended by a friend (I'm sorry Laura, I really tried! Without revealing all the secrets, I will say that the hands of Jesus were sculpted from the hands of the great-grandmother of the heroine Isabella, most of the novel is dedicated to her.

The disappearance of another young pupil and the death of an elderly Classics master provide Jazz with important leads, but as snow covers the landscape and another suspect goes missing, Jazz must also confront her personal demons. Izabela - passionate and longing to see the world - convinces her father to allow her to accompany him and his family to Europe before she is married. There amongst the backpackers, she meets the mysterious Ace, a man as lonely as she is and whom she subsequently realizes has a secret to hide .
