So, when Project Apollo, (which was manned by Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins), a mission to get astronauts onto the moon was successful in 1969, the mysteries of space attracted all kinds of people; everyone from businesses to young children marveled at seeing rockets being launched into space from their TV screens.The first prototype, fabricated by Pettit on the International Space Station, is made of repurposed Mylar sheeting and Kapton tape. The prototype was developed into the second version, designed by Mark Weislogel and his team at Portland State University.
