About this deal

Pot Belly stoves were popular in the late 1800s and were commonplace in train stations, stores, and cabins. Pot Belly stoves cast heat and give you a small flat area to cook on, which makes them useful. The downside of most pot belly stoves is their poor efficiency and drafty construction. An old Pot Belly makes for a nice functional touch in a hunting cabin, but I don’t recommend it for daily use. Airtight Stoves The Cypress™ Gas Stove offers a unique and timeless presentation of fire, with clean lines and sleek styling. This stove features an open, three-sided design with a large wrap-around ceramic glass fire viewing area, allowing you to enjoy the beauty of the award-winning Ember-Fyre® log set from any angle in the room. The standard overhead accent lighting enhances the fire display even more, providing a warm glow that can be enjoyed with or without the flames on. Their distinctive design, rich history, and association with a bygone era make them sought-after items for antique enthusiasts and those seeking a nostalgic ambiance. Glenwood is perhaps the most well known of the manufacturers to take the pot belly styling cues and make them its signature underneath layers of increasingly opulent additions of chrome ornamentation.

Due to their compact size yet effective heating capabilities, they were ideal for heating public spaces like train depots and small classrooms. One of the pipes was the longest, so I used it for the second level of the chimney. It consisted of two sections of pipes of different diameters, welded together. There were small defects on the pipe joints, so they had to be welded with a welding machine. I patched some small holes using metal plates for this. The total length of the pipe was approximately 4 m. Its first stage, with a diameter of 115 mm, has a length of 2.7 m. The second stage, with a diameter of 85 mm, has a length of approximately 1.34 m. I cut off the edges of the pipe with a grinder. Thus, the total length was 4.06 m. Contemporary aesthetic preferences also played a role. Brands revered for their classic designs, such as Jotul, Hearthstone, and Vermont Castings, have shifted towards producing stoves with a modern flair. Consumers today prefer clear, glass doors that offer unhindered views of the dancing flames, a departure from the solid cast-iron fronts of yesteryears. This shift has driven manufacturers to prioritize modern designs over retrofitting older models to meet EPA guidelines. While charming and historically significant, many potbelly stoves aren’t as efficient as modern wood stoves, which often feature advanced combustion technology.

A standout feature is its adaptability for smaller settings—be it a cozy living space, a rustic cabin, or even a houseboat. However, potential users on boats or barges should adhere to the BC 8511:2010 regulations for safety. Its dimensions of 340 x 360 x 630mm and weight of 17.6 kg make it easy to install and fit in diverse spaces without appearing intrusive. The added benefit of a heavy-duty removable grate ensures ease of cleaning, and its 117mm diameter top exiting flue connector, compatible with the standard 5″ stove pipe, promises hassle-free integration with most setups. Absolutely! Many were used for cooking and boiling water, making them versatile fixtures in homes and other spaces like train stations. The hearth needs to be secured on some pads of carpet, adhesive or sand or a stiff mortar. Once the hearth has been positioned the stove can be positioned and the centre point for the flue found by using a plumb line or spirit level.

The chimney is probably the most difficult and important part of this project. No stove or fireplace will work without a good chimney draft! Therefore, it was essential for me to finish the chimney, and then work on the stove itself. In addition, the weather was getting worse, and installing a chimney on the roof in bad weather is not the best idea. First, I marked out and made a hole in the ceiling of the workshop. In this case, it was necessary to take into account the exit of the pipe to the roof. According to fire safety standards, the chimney must be at a certain distance from the wooden elements of the roof! Before that, I treated several times the wooden beams of the roof with a special agent for fire safety. After I made a hole in the concrete ceiling with a puncher and cut off the excess reinforcement, I immediately set up a laser level to mark the exit of the chimney in the roof of the house. For greater rigidity of the reinforced concrete ceiling, I fixed additional connections from metal reinforcement by welding. The flue kit installed in this instance is a mixture of single skin flue pipe and twin wall flue pipe. Made in the UK this is the highest quality British made flue money can buy. A combination of VITRELUX and HT-S it is a system designed to provide an effective draw on a system of approx. 3.6m high. The flue size increases from 100mm diameter to 125mm diameter and an A?D Swedish cowl have also been utilised to negate the relatively short flue height.
