About this deal

I requested a digital advanced readers copy from NetGalley and One More Chapter and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased. UK's most heinous violent offenders - released on licence to serve the remainder of their time in the community.

Step into the good size hall which stretches ahead and is the gateway to the two double bedrooms, kitchen, living room and bathroom/w.c. The story centers around a controversial hostel for high risk offenders who go their to serve out the rest of their sentence. When the unpopular Danny Wells is found murdered in the early morning hours, Jeanette the officer in charge is on serious damage control. The people in the neighborhood already aren’t happy about the hostel and this is going to make everything ten times worse. I didn't have a concrete theory for any of my suspicions, but I also couldn't piece it together any faster than the information was revealed to the reader. For Scotland, 2011 data is shown (update coming soon, the Scottish census was delayed by a year unlike the rest of the UK).

This is one tightly written book from a few different point of views and gives an excellent insight into the probation service, and just how ex-prisoners out on licence are treated and just what everything means. Also shows how various departments within the justice system can work together on occasion. Her whole team, along with the eight convicted murderers, are now all suspects in a crime no one saw committed… Envision too the opportunity to refresh the bungalow and style it to your individual specification. Well, that bungalow could be number 34! Situated in a cul-de-sac location and featuring parking to the front and a manageable garden to the rear, this home awaits your enthusiasm and creative juices. The census collection is designed so that each group of postcodes should contain at least 100 people (50 in Scotland). Sloane Armstrong, a local freelance journalist has been writing pieces about 6 Ripley Avenue since the hostel opened. She's even made friends with Helen who started the neighbourhood watch on the house, and who lives across the street from the hostel. Helen has been able to supply Sloane with some juicy tidbits. Sloane is determined to find out what really happened.

The chapters did drag at times - regardless of being short - but I still liked the story. Most (if not all) of the characters were unlikable but I was fine with that. I was more interested in the killer on the loose, but unfortunately, I did predict the killer. It felt too obvious. This was still a fun read though!

Danny Wells, a violent offender and resident of a probation hostel that houses high-risk offenders released “on licence” to serve the remainder of their time in the community, is murdered in cold blood in the common area of the hostel.

Ripley Avenue is a slow burn that builds to a satisfying conclusion. Noelle Holten spent eighteen years as a Senior Probation Officer and is well versed in writing criminal novels. She describes probation procedures with a wealth of knowledge. The characters are interesting and diverse. Helen is eighty six and the leader of the neighborhood watch. She decides to volunteer in the kitchen at the hostel to keep an eye on whats going on. Helen is friends with Sloan, a journalist who has written extensively about the hostel since it opened. This is Holtens first standalone thriller after writing the fantastic DC Maggie Jamieson series and oh boy, has she nailed it!! Noelle Holten's 6 Ripley Avenue is an intriguing stand-alone book that starts off with a bang. This is my first book by Holten, who has six books to her credit. Noelle Holten is the author of the best-selling Maggie Jamieson series. Helen is friends with Sloane Armstrong, a freelance investigative journalist, who has been reporting on the probation hostel and how the locals have been reacting to the presence of the inhabitants ever since the Ripley House was established.
