About this deal

As a chef and food writer I often get asked to review kitchen equipment, most of which I turn down due my schedule. I was asked however to review the 7 litre stand food mixer about 17 months ago.

I've also found that the attachments don't quite touch the bottom of the bowl, so if you're planning on using the mixer on small ingredient quantities (such as to whip ½ cup of heavy cream or to beat 2 egg whites) the attachments will miss the ingredients and nothing will happen. The Summary Superdrug adds new 'VIP Rewards' offers to its existing loyalty scheme – here's what you need to know The stand mixer is not only limited to baking. The mixer can be used to create many other foods such as sauces, homemade dips, mashed potato, mayonnaise and batters making it the one kitchen appliance you will always turn to for help. And since I'm not planning on getting married any time soon, I couldn't just add the machine onto my wedding list and therefore accepted the fact that I was never to be the proud owner of a fancy mixer. That's how you guys all got your KitchenAids, right? Added them onto your wedding list? I really can't see any other way of getting one because I'm certainly not prepared to fork out that kind of cash unless my life depends on it. Not that I'm tight or anything, but....yeah, I am. I am very careful what I say in a review because I want my word and opinion to count for something.

The negative points are very minimal. The main downfall is the noise - it does make quite a bit of noise when you have it set above the third power setting, but in comparison to the previous mixers I've owned, it makes about as much noise as any other. It will sit on all standard counter tops but because of it's height it is better to place it were there are no wall mounted cupboards above so you can easily lift the whisk/beater blade when you have finished mixing. The Andrew James Food Mixer AJ000194 is a low priced stand mixer which on paper seems to do everything the pricier models do. It's available in four vibrant colours to match other appliances in the range and has a large 5.2 litre stainless steel bowl and standard range of attachments. Our tests found that this reasonably priced mixer delivered good results for many tasks, but isn't good at whisking. Overall, though, it's a good mixer at a great price. The Andrew James stand mixer is one of only a few food mixers to come complete with the following 4 mixer attachments Some say it is noisy but when I tested against other 7 litre mixers I found it to be about the same. Remember a 7 litre mixer is a serious bit of kitchen kit.

Beauty Advent calendars are significantly pricier than chocolate ones, but they've become increasingly popular in the last few years as a way of bagging beauty products at a fraction of the normal cost. They often sell out early, but can also be heavily discounted later if they don't, so here's a round-up of some of the best I’ve seen. If you're a regular Superdrug shopper, you can now earn more freebies and discounts under its Health & Beautycard loyalty scheme, as the retailer has launched new 'VIP Rewards' as part of it. It also features six different power settings, including pulse, ensuring you always have the perfect setting needed to whip up whatever you're craving. The huge 5.2 litre dish can take up to 2kg of whatever mixture, ideal for batch-making treats, savoury dishes and doughs. How are you finding your Puregadgets Mixer? I have been toying with the idea of buying one for a few weeks but scare to take the leap incase its not as good as it looks. I originally wrote this post over a year ago shortly after I got my hands on this wonderful machine. But since I use it every single week without fail, I thought it was only right that I re-visit this post and add to it, telling you guys how much I still love and value this mixer with all my heart.
