Please join our discord server while we are shut down in protest of the recent Reddit API changes: https://discord. The low weight and optimised grip section support the hand posture and allow for long, fatigue-proof writing fun. I actually find it quite comfortable though compared to it’s rivals the flat underside of the section does mean a thinner grip.

I found the “ergonomic” triangle grip was subtle enough that it didn’t interfere with my usual lefty pen holds. I’m not quite sure what it is but the reason may be that many are designed for younger people or students from countries where fountain pens still must be used at least some of the time in school. The Kaweco sits roughly midway and I found it could still be held with relative comfort with reverse tripod or four finger grips. Thanks to the length of the barrel, the fountain pen can also be used with a big Kaweco standard converter.I did wonder about doing a quick comparison review as I have two of the Perkeo’s chief rivals, the Lamy Safari and the Pelikan Pelikano, plus a lower level Schneider pen. The Perkeo, which I have reviewed previously in this blog, is made of a tough plastic with a sixteen sided barrel and an eight sided, pull-off cap. To me, the nib looks small, disproportionately so — even though it’s slightly larger than the unit on the AL Sport. Also, I have found that the Fine versions have a delightful feedback to them which I enjoy, on smooth paper. The Kaweco Perkeo has been around for a couple of years now and is a decent, affordable, entry level pen, of comfortable proportions.

I'd recommend not trying unless there is a pressing need--and be careful to not damage the nib as you pull. Since the UK left the EU in January 2021, the way international shipments are dealt with by Customs has changed.

There has been a recent flurry of matte-black fountain pens, with black nibs and furniture, known to enthusiasts as stealth pens. Mine has a chalky white/grey barrel and a dusty, dusky blue cap, both matte finished, with steel-coloured finial on the cap. The modern shape and the ergonomic grip section of the writing instrument are ideal for beginners as well as high-quality writing.

This pen has a nice grip, my nib choice was medium which bring nice smooth strokes of ink to the page. Im trying to decide if I should get a kaweco sport or a kaweco perkeo as my second fountain pen, I already have a lamy safari in medium nib. Aside from this, I have another on which the barrel does not screw on to the section tightly and seamlessly and ends up with a little bit of play and a slight gap. Perhaps being a left hander, I am more sensitive to having a nib on the wet side, particularly for lefty overwriting. Talking of quality control, I did have an issue with one of my Perkeos, in that the inner cap was defective. The catalogue of the Heidelberg dip pen factory which was later named Kaweco, describes the Perkeo as a convertible fountain pen. All four have the triangular shaped sections with the Lamy being the most pronounced, and as a result thinnest to hold.
