About this deal
The pocket patterns align seamlessly with the shirt, with the pocket corners cut and double-sewn at angles to reduce snagging and folding. The heavy cotton panels are tacked together using flat-felled seams in the body, and flat-locked then overstitched where the arms meet the torso. Left exposed, they can rub against the body, snag, and fray, which eventually will pull on the surrounding stitching.
Steve Graepel has the owners of several companies on speed dial, and has had conversations with manufacturers and mills from around the world. In short, the fibers are broken and become more prone to catching dust and grime, which can continue to break down the fibers. But a closer look shows attention to details that matter, like fully felled seams for durability, a gusset in the back for arm mobility, and contrasting brown buttons that lock the front down securely. But it isn’t great in a shirt, and we’ve seen why in other heavy-weight shirts that flat-fell the arms to the torso.
We liked Devium’s front pockets and the low nap is very durable, but the cotton flannel is best worn on cool, dry days.If you want something similar in plushness but want it to be more of a pure flannel, we’d recommend looking at the Good Man Brand Stadium. It’s a good combination of durability and comfort that we like to see applied to heavy-weight flannels.
