About this deal

After his work with WIIC and WPXI, Cardille made public appearances and spent 19 years at WJAS-AM as a radio host until August 2014. Find sources: "Chiller Theatre"1963 TV series– news · newspapers · books · scholar · JSTOR ( June 2010) ( Learn how and when to remove this template message) Cardille also was the longtime host of “Studio Wrestling,” which ran from 1959 to 1972 on WIIC-TV (precursor to WPXI-TV). This book is about somebody who lives in a refrigerator. He cleans it up and turns the light on and off. And there are a bunch of short stories about some of his adventures. I liked the cover and the pictures. There was just the right amount of pictures to tell the story. I liked lots of different things about the book like the Fridge Olympics. I also liked how the person who wrote the story was creative like making the bed out of ice and the lamp out of an icicle. I liked how there was an “Icycle” (instead of a bicycle) in the story. I liked the book, it was really funny. I would rather have someone read it to me than read it myself. I think boys and girls 8 and under would like this book.

Cardille was offered a management job in Erie, but returned to Pittsburgh in September 1962, preferring to work as a TV director and announcer. William Robert Cardille (December 10, 1928 – July 21, 2016), also known as " Chilly Billy", was an American broadcast personality from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was well known to regional viewers as a late-night horror host, but is perhaps more widely remembered for his appearance in George A. Romero's landmark zombie film Night of the Living Dead (1968), portraying a fictional version of himself. In early July 2016, Cardille's family announced that he was battling cancer for the second time. He died the morning of July 21, 2016, [6] at his home in McCandless, Pennsylvania. Cardille’s first television job in Erie included hosting a Saturday morning spelling bee and beer commercials during Cleveland Indians games.

WOW! Tell me more!

Chiller Theatre 's successful run ended at the end of 1983. Precipitating its demise was a decision by WPXI management to air the hour-long weekend edition of Entertainment Tonight immediately after Saturday Night Live, pushing Chiller Theater's start time to 2:00a.m. -- too late for even the most devoted fans to fight off sleep. The show ended January 1, 1984. Once you’ve met Chilly Billy and heard of his adventures inside the refrigerator, you’ll never open the fridge door in quite the same way again. Chilly Billy is a fun and lovable character with adventures like the Fridge Olympics and the Frozen sports contest against his arch rival The Mad Jumper. Quality and excellent customer service are part of the core principles of the BC Group. Chilly Billy is no exception. The Amazing Adventures of Chilly Billy by Pete Mayle is a fun children's book that not only explains the mystery of the light in the refrigerator, but also gives much more insight into the life of Chilly Billy when he's not busy turning on the light, tidying up messes and making sure those ice cubes shine. In this book, readers get to learn about the Great Annual Fridge Olympics and Frozen Sports, Billy's love interest Lily, and the time he met Stripy Norman, a lost caterpillar in the lettuce. Overall, it is a fun and entertaining read for children and adults alike.

We've got a cool winter offer just for you

Chilly Billy is the little man who lives in your fridge and turns the light on and off. But that’s not all he does! He also cleans up leaks and spills; re-organizes the contents depending on the time of day (e.g., breakfast items in the front in the morning); adjusts the temperature depending on the weather forecast; and does so much more. The author has indeed created a very imaginative setting for this most unusual and unique main character. He did such a great job in fact that my children really pondered whether we had a Chilly Billy living in our fridge. Judging by the state of our fridge, I would say that it speaks for itself! lol
