It sets rock hard when exposed to heat or at room temperature, although the process takes longer the lower the temperature. After curing any fine cracks that may appear in the cement should be filled with the same material to ensure an air tight seal. This Black Premium Fire Cement manufactured by Vitcas is perfect for creating gas tight joints in your flue system and unlike a flexible silicone, will set to a hard and durable finish.

MAIN USES: For permanent repair and sealing of joints, cracks and fissures in firebricks, fireplaces, solid fuel ovens, ranges, boilers, internal flue pipes, central heating systems and other surfaces where heat resistance is required.The material has excellent adhesive properties, even when exposed to high temperatures and it can be used in a variety of different applications which are exposed to high levels of heat. Fire cement when dry is a non-flexible solid sealant (unfortunately “high temperature” flexible silicone sealants degrade above 300 degree Centigrade which is above the normal operating temperature of your stove). Hotspot paint is generally used to re-paint existing stoves or stove pipes to give a new looking Matt Black Finish. The issues are that silicones can bubble/move / melt etc especially if using standard high temp as the heat produced from the flue is over the max temp rating of most “high temp sealant” and fire cements can crack and fall out when it’s just stuffed into a gap which has so much movement under intense heat. These rigid substrates offer a solid foundation for the fire cement sealant to adhere to effectively.
