The repetitive rate is limited by the internal sampling clock jitters, accuracy of the triggering circuits etc. My Rigol DS1052E can show very similar artifacts if you turn on averaging and average a lot of traces. I see very superficial reviews with the conclusion “it is able to show a signal on screen, so it works”.

There are Owon, Siglent and Rigol scopes that are only a little more expensive and much more accurate and user friendly. Dirt-cheap digital scopes have, in my experience, too many issues with aliasing, such that even the cheapest analog scope with one channel is more useful. You would also eliminate the scope probe by connecting the high speed pulse to the BNC (or other high speed connector) and using 50 ohms termination.
