About this deal

The 400 CV is designed to take the Campingaz ‘easy clic’ valve cannisters like the CV470, so you don’t need a hose and regulator – this simplifies the operation a bit. but costs a bit more than the standard 400 which does need a regulator.

As you can see from the above table, the Calor 4.5kg and Campingaz R907 last a similar amount of time, despite the Campingaz holding less gas. If you prefer more of a traditional gas burner hob, this folding Milestone Double Burner Stove will be right up your alley. The size of a small briefcase (62 x 35 cm and 4.5 kg), it feels high quality when you snap open the lid and hook up the hose and regulator to your gas bottle. Most stoves use either canisters of gas (propane, butane or a mix of the two) or liquid fuel (such as kerosene or paraffin). Gas canisters usually clip or screw onto the stove. They’re small, lightweight and don’t leak. Often, stoves are only compatible with one kind of fuel or brand, so always ensure you buy the right fuel canister for your particular stove.

Specifically, with a ‘dual fuel’ stove below or one of the adaptors below, you can use multiple types of gas cylinder, which will maximise your chances of finding gas canisters all over the world, wherever you are. It’s a good way to save money too as the alternatives are often cheaper.

I’ve not been to west Africa but I suspect you won’t be able to reliably find camping gas on sale. If so, your best bet will be a stove that burns petrol instead, because you can get that every time you fill up your bike. Some stoves have a “pre heat tube” that means the stove still works with the canister turned upside down, which means it works better in the cold. See my article ‘ Comparison of Gas Stoves‘ for details.

With a three-legged stable platform for supporting your pan, the aluminium Odoland includes piezo ignition, serrated edges, a flame-adjustment nob, and a screw valve canister attachment.I’m glad you think so! I was quite annoyed at that, haha. Your article also helped me figure out where to get certain systems, so that was very helpful, thank you! For what it’s worth, the aerosol-type canisters were very prevalent on my trip to southern Chile this year — they seem to be associated with the cheaper-looking stoves imported from China and elsewhere. I also noticed folks putting mini-blowtorches on top of them to toast their bread! Reply The Campingaz cylinders have a very simple connection, where you can screw the cylinder and regulator together. Each cylinder holds a different amount of gas, and each regulator has a flow rate, so assuming you burn the gas on full flow, the following table gives a rough guide - but note that is artificial for comparison only. Please can you tell me of there is an alternative to the CV270 Campingaz canister for use with the Campingaz Bleuet CV270L lantern. The adaptor won’t work because of the canister shroud attached to the top half of the lantern. Reply
