About this deal

Hostiles in grey plastic: Obsidius Mallex, Chaos Lord; 2 Chaos Space Marines; 4 Chaos Beastmen; 4 Ur-Ghuls; 4 Negavolt Cultists; 2 Rogue Psykers; 4 Spindle Drones and 14 Traitor Guardsmen. For many, Space Hulk is a title synonymous with the best of Warhammer 40k. First released in 1989, this two-player game sees Space Marine Terminators hunt through the ruined corridors of colossal spaceships while beset by ravening aliens: the Tyranid Genestealers.

For those who love the mechanics of Warhammer Quest but need something a little more narrative-driven, Cursed City ranks as one of the best Warhammer board games around. It also helps that, like previous releases, this version of Warhammer Quest comes loaded with some of the most beautiful models Games Workshop has released. Oho! New to Stardew? Keep me posted on what you think. It can take time to earn things, but other avenues open up (mining, fishing, interacting with townsfolk) to keep you engaged as the in-game days... First and foremost amongst these are a trio of magnificent Chaos Space Marines sculpted in the baroque and terrifying splendour such characters have always deserved:Choose from Ultramarines, Iyanden Eldar, Evil Sunz Orks, and the crazed Chaos Space Marines of the World Eaters, to battle it out in a game that stands as one of the highest-rated board games that bears the Warhammer name. Set during the final stages of this colossal conflict, this two-player board game pits Space Marine vs. Space Marine as the forces of Horus Lupercal wage war on the Emperor of Mankind‘s palace on Terra. Developed by Fantasy Flight Games, Horus Heresy The Board Game brings together strategic decision-making with card-based combat to form an elegant look at this chaotic, warp-twisted stage of the war.

As if the ground disappearing beneath your explorers’ feet wasn’t bad enough, there is another new threat to your explorers – the Guardian Drones. We’ve already seen the awesome new models , but what can they do in the game? Well, they are armed with a selection of weapons that make them deadly at every range. Adding to the value of the set is the fact that all of the miniatures bundled with the game come with rules for use in the eighth edition of the full-fledged tabletop wargame. There’s also a beta version of a new ruleset that makes those same minis usable in Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team, a small-unit skirmish game released earlier this year.

The miniatures appear to be unique to this game, without any re-issues from any previous Games Workshop releases as far as we could tell, which is a nice touch after all of the previously released models flooding the Kill Team: Champions line. Some of the other Cultists are equipped with heavier weaponry, including grenade launchers and heavy stubbers, to make you pay dearly for every inch you advance into their demesne.

Set in the city of Ulfenkarn, Cursed City sees 2-5 players work to learn the secret of a mysterious curse that has befallen the city, causing undead creatures to stalk the streets. Over a series of missions, players learn more about the curse and begin to put together the truth of the darkness at the heart of Ulfenkarn.

A New Maze

There have been several releases named after Warhammer’s Horus Heresy saga – but2010’s Horus Heresy The Board Gameis, for our money, one of the best that Games Workshop has produced. The game can be played solo, or with up to 4 friends, with the fifth player controlling the hostiles. At the end of each expedition, the players return to the nearby port city of Precipice to rest, recuperate, and trade their loot for resources that will aid in their next adventure. Usually, we’d just suggest going and killing the Guardian Drone before it has an opportunity to spawn any Hover Drones, but with 18 wounds, that’s not going to be straightforward!

With a unique combat structure and a phase system that allows players to dabble in equal parts strategy and deceit, Forbidden Stars remains one of the high points not only of Warhammer 40k board games but of the Warhammer setting as a whole.

The Story…

On your mention of Skat that is similar to the game 500 (pretty common in New Zealand and Australia and the Northern US and Canada from what I hear - well, at least in the 70s & 80s) where there are... Having a bit of lighter fun with people at the local club playing Forgotten Waters. The only disappointment is that because there's around 20 people playing different games in a pub's function room...
