The center furnished an assortment of evidence that it said buttressed White`s case, including the 7.65 mm. Mauser that he claimed his father used in the assassination and the embarkation slips that showed both White and Oswald departed on the USS Bexar for Marine duty in Japan on Aug. 22, 1957.

Roscoe was trained in photography, having been hired in that capacity by the DPD, on October 7, 1963, only weeks before the assassination. Roscoe took pride in his photographic skills and was in the habit of altering the faces of people in photographs. “His relatives thought it curious that he went to the trouble of erasing the faces of all the people in his pictures. I'm providing The Fourth Decade with relevant portions of the Texas Attorney General's file, confirmation of Roscoe White's activities, as well as my complete file on Operation Tulungan. My hope is that the LaFontaines will do the same and provide The Fourth Decade with corroboration supporting their claims. Any analysis of the works of the Warren Report critics shows that the cry common to them all is that by the means described above - the distortion of testimony, the ignoring of witnesses, the acceptance of unreliable testimony and the biased interpretation of evidence - the Commission had gone out of its way to give credence to testimony and evidence which supported the theory that Lee Harvey Oswald had, alone and unaided, shot and killed the President of the United States, and that they sought to conceal or discredit that which would have opposed it. In 1976, when the Senate Intelligence Committee was probing the role of the intelligence agencies in investigating the assassination, it found another pose in the same series of pictures. This was in the possession of a Dallas policeman's widow, the former Mrs. Roscoe White. She said her husband had told her it would be very valuable one day. As the polite prose of the congressional Assassinations Committee was to put it later. Policeman White had "acquired" the picture in the course of his duties after the assassination. A fellow officer has mentioned making "numerous" copies of the Oswald pictures for his colleagues. However, even if this particular print was intended merely as a keepsake, why was there no copy of it in the evidence assembled for the official inquiry? It reflects, at best, astonishingly sloppy handling of evidence. Several officers must have known about this version of the photograph in 1963, for it shows Oswald in a stance with the rifle which was copied in police reenactment experiments. Perhaps, indeed, they once knew of more copies. The last act of this comedy of police work does nothing to still the suspicions of those who suspect hanky-panky with the rifle poses. And that Roscoe joined the Dallas police department less than two months before the assassination makes me very suspicious.

Who was Roscoe White, and what was there about his life that made anyone suspect he was an assassin in the employ of some renegade intelligence organization? For one thing, he fit the profile. He grew up on a farm outside the small town of Foreman, Arkansas, a model boy who loved football, God, and country, who did what he was told and didn’t ask questions. The speech that Roscoe White made to his graduation class at Foreman High School, warning of the international communist conspiracy and advocating a strong national defense, was a remarkable declaration of patriotic fervor, touching in its innocence but unquestionably sincere.
