About this deal

Viewing angles are still excellent, so while the 27GP850 may have TN-like contrast, it does offer a much better viewing experience overall. Uniformity on my unit was good without being amazing, not too different from the 27GL850. There was a bit of IPS glow with my model, although not as much as with my 27GL850, and this does tend to vary from unit to unit so whatever I report here may not be what you experience yourself. monitors: Digital cinema 4K resolution provides crisp images with a significant number of pixels on screen. 4K resolution displays over four times the resolution of standard 1920 x1080 FHD, and over half a million more pixels than UHD resolution, which means you can view even the finest details clearly.

The big story around LG's Nano IPS panels has always been the contrast ratio. Unfortunately, LG have not been able to shift the needle significantly with this new generation. Now the ideal solution would have been to implement variable overdrive to switch between these settings depending on the refresh rate, but LG hasn't implemented that here. In a sense there are two optimal overdrive modes, rather than the ideal situation which is a single optimal setting. Typical gaming monitors have response times ranging from 1 to 6 milliseconds, which is considered fast enough for most gamers. However, based on our hands-on experience with various monitors, we prefer higher-end monitors with response times as low as 0.5 milliseconds. This lower response time provides even smoother and more responsive motion, ensuring an immersive gaming experience.

Color Gamut refers to the range of colors that a monitor can display. A wide color gamut means the monitor can display more colors, creating a more vibrant and lifelike image. The resolution is another critical aspect of a gaming monitor. The resolution is measured in pixels; the more pixels a monitor has, the sharper the image will be. A higher resolution results in a clearer and more detailed picture. Added that the Dell Alienware AW2724DM supports HDMI Forum VRR, which this monitor doesn't support. However the most recent wide gamut IPS displays like MSI's MAG274QRF-QD take things one step further, with in excess of 80% Rec. 2020 coverage. This allows the MSI monitor to also support full Adobe RGB coverage, which the 27GP850 does not. Having Adobe RGB coverage in addition to P3 may be useful for some creative workloads, so if that's important to you then other panels will be better than the 27GP850. Despite this, LG are still providing quite a wide gamut. In terms of design, this is your standard LG UltraGear monitor. The stand has received an overhaul, so we're not getting the sliding-cylinder design for height adjustability, but the new version is similar to LG's 2020-series monitors. The stand pillar and base use plastic for their outer materials, it's got this new more angular pillar that looks quite good, and then V-shaped legs.Get the ultimate gaming monitor. The basic fundamentals are the same: this is a 27-inch 2560x1440 display using LG Nano IPS technology. Same 98% DCI-P3 gamut coverage, same adaptive sync support with G-Sync and AMD FreeSync. But there are three major additions that make this more than just a refresh. Based on our analysis, the Gigabyte 27" M27Q X and LG 27" 27GP850-B monitors both have a refresh rate of 1 ms, which we found was excellent for gaming. It's also a much more substantial update to the display than last year's refreshed 27GN850, with LG showing the clear goal of retaking the performance throne in this class of monitor. However, screen size also plays a role in the gaming experience. A bigger screen allows you to see more detail at a more comfortable size. While a high resolution is important for detail and crispness, a bigger screen allows you to see that detail at a more comfortable size. For example, a 27-inch monitor with a resolution of 1440p (3440 x 1440) will let you see a lot more detail than a 1080p (1920 x 1080) monitor of the same size. The numbers in the resolution stand for the number of pixels per line. So a 1920 x 1080 resolution monitor would have over 2 million pixels total.

With some low refresh rate monitors, we've had situations where their low refresh rate resulted in choppy, stuttering motion, particularly during fast-paced action scenes in movies or games. This poor performance of having a low refresh rate is because the monitor cannot keep up with the speed at which the picture changes. A higher refresh rate can reduce this effect, resulting in a more immersive and responsive experience. Our experience with monitors has shown us that a high refresh rate is crucial when playing fast-paced games such as first-person shooters and racing games. Based on our analysis, the LG 32" 32GP850-B and LG 27" 27GP850-B monitors both have a 98% DCI-P3 color gamut, which we found was excellent for gaming. Determining what is most important when choosing a monitor depends on which color space (CMYK, sRGB, DCI-P3, or Adobe RGB) you usually use. We recommend choosing a monitor with a wide range of colors. The higher the percentage, the better the experience. The DCI-P3 color space is the most popular and has the widest range of colors.

In our years of working with monitors, we've observed that a monitor's refresh rate is a critical factor in determining its overall performance. Refresh rate refers to the number of times the display updates the picture being displayed per second. A higher refresh rate means the screen is updated more frequently, resulting in a smoother, more fluid motion and less motion blur. However I also think that's being a bit unfair to LG. Usually when I talk about displays not delivering a single overdrive mode experience, it's because each mode is unusable at a certain point in the refresh range. That could mean decent performance at 144Hz but severe inverse ghosting at 60Hz. That's not really the case with the 27GP850, and the differences between the Normal and Fast modes are small overall. I actually found it quite hard to decide which mode is better for adaptive sync gaming, ultimately I settled on the Fast mode but overall it's a case where buyers can choose to either prioritize low overshoot with the Normal mode, or speed with the Fast mode, and get a pretty good experience across the board. The 27GP850-B is a screen produced through the people at LG. This model comes with 2.560 × 1.440 pixel of sharpness and it is growing steadily more accepted thanks to the gaming fans. It includes the equivalent aspect layout as 1080p, still has a more exceptional picture sharpness, for this reason it is ideal for the shoppers who don't desire to switch to 3840 x 2160 yet The sub-pixels on 27GP850-B switch colours in 1 ms and, conceivably, Dragon Ball fanatics would benefit a lot from this. Blurry artifacts occasionally handicap the efficiency of contestants in online matches. Largely Helpful Based on our analysis, the Gigabyte 27" M27Q X and LG 27" 27GP850-B monitors both have a resolution of 2560 x 1440, which we found was excellent for gaming. To compare this result to other monitors we can convert this result into Rec. 2020 coverage, with this color space being massive and much larger than P3. Here we can see a good result for the 27GP850, with about 70% Rec. 2020 coverage being similar to many other displays that prioritize wide P3 color gamuts. Like with LG's previous display, there is also a crazy fast "Faster" mode which is designed specifically to hit a 1ms response time. The best result we achieved is 1.25ms, so that claim is accurate, however it's in a largely unusable mode due to its inverse ghosting. Overshoot is significant, and while the average response has improved to 2.88ms, cumulative deviation is higher in this mode compared to the previous mode, indicating the balance of performance has swung too far into the "inverse ghosting" zone. Power consumption has decreased slightly across the generations. The 27GP850 consumes about 16% less power at the same level of brightness after calibration than the 27GL850, a modest improvement to efficiency but not that different to some other 27-inch 1440p gaming monitors that I've benchmarked.
