About this deal

Iris throws herself into a new world of art and love, unaware that a chance meeting with another man has triggered a dangerous obsession. And beyond naming him these things, and showing him within these environments it felt a little like window-dressing. I've had a personal experience with stalking and don't really care to understand the psychological elements of stalkers.

Overall, I think if someone didn't have the issues with the type of crime perpetuated in this book it would probably be much more enjoyable. The story centres on an organisation where clients reconnect with those they’ve lost, which struck me as the ideal setup for obsessive and forbidden love. Here's our pick of the best books about obsession, from Elizabeth Macneal's The Doll Factory to Emily Brontë's classic tale of destructive romance, Wuthering Heights. Before I begin this review, I want to preface this with the fact that this book was born out of the authors own experience with a stalker, and I want to be sure I take that into consideration as that was a real experience and is a real experience for many people. The other thing that left me at sixes and sevens was the history between Logan and Sophie as they weren't given a solid establishment.

Something that felt big, lurking underneath us the way a giant sea creature did, writhing right below the calm surface before bursting out of the water with its jaws open.

She discusses the five types of stalker: The Rejected Stalker (often after the breakdown of a relationship); The Intimacy Seeker (who longs for a relationship; this is entangled with erotomania – the delusional belief that another person, usually of a higher social status, is in love with them ie the celebrity stalker); The Resentful Stalker (seeking revenge or retribution); The Incompetent Suitor (seeking short-term gratification spawned by loneliness or lust); and finally The Predator (less common but a more serious risk – the deadly and chilling attention of a stranger).

I enjoyed the chapters of other victims too, including all the ways in which someone can be stalked. This was sickly, disturbingly delicious and I'm kind of afraid of myself, considering how passionately I loved that horrible, disturbing ending. From her personal account to the input of experts in the field, this is an exceptionally important book for everyone.

We once found a poor little kitten on the side of the road and I named it "Free Cat" until it fulfilled its name-destiny.I'd put on a pink cable-knit sweater over faded jeans and tied my hair up with an actual, damn scrunchie. This book details how globally the law and communities are adjusting to the crime, to curb the ability of stalkers to operate outside the purview of the criminal justice system. Even though her trauma almost justified her acts, the ending made it difficult for me to be in the same wavelength as her (*I'll get back to the ending later). I'm not quite sure how the publishers and editors that uber popular Nora Roberts has were okay with this.
