Communication Problems’ sees Basil (Cleese) forced to deal with a deaf guest while attempting to conceal his gambling win from Sybil (Prunella Scales). The Germans' sees Basil failing to cope with a fire drill and the arrival of some German guests while Sybil is in hospital. The Artist Profiles are in two sections: the main characters and the others who starred as guests etc.

The Builders’ sees Basil in hot water with Sybil when he employs the unreliable Irish labourer Mr O’Reilly (David Kelly) to do some work in the hotel lobby. Fawlty Towers was famously inspired by an unbelievably rude hotel proprietor John Cleese encountered whilst filming with Monty Python. Most of the other episodes follow a pattern, in which Basil is trying to hide some sort of disaster from someone else (his hotel's inadequacy, a drunk chef, racetrack winnings, etc. It is a fair bet that anyone reading this is a fan of the show and probably has the twelve episodes on video cassette, either taped off the telly, or the BBC videos that have been released. The episode also gives Booth a chance to shine when Basil talks Polly into posing as Sybil, which leads to one of the funniest scenes in the whole series.
