About this deal

This picture, also from Reddit, shows the offending gears: the three 8t ones on the right, which as you can see above, are in a tight space in the gearbox so can't be replaced with anything else. The Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey is a tiltrotor aircraft for VTOL (vertical takeoff and landing) missions and is operated by the U.S. Air Force, Marines, and Navy, as well as the Japan Self-Defense Forces. Although some examples are equipped to play search and rescue operations, the V-22 is not operated by any civilian sources. It fits in the same space and requires no further modification. All that's needed is three additional 8-tooth gears. What this list doesn't have: Triangular curved panels (Sian's hood). DBG gears or connectors or axles. All the remaining parts in the Master list.

However, the gearbox contains a serious design flaw, the likes of which we've never encountered in a Technic model before. I've managed to break it within a few hours of building it. If the mechanisms are kept within their limits and operated in a particular way, they operate fairly well, but it's all too easy to strain the motor and break the gears. Around 400 of the craft have been produced since 1988 and it's currently in use by the US military and the Japanese self-defence force. If you are already in love with this model of V-22 Osprey, I do not advise reading beyond this point, as not everything is glorious about the set. To start with, let’s remember that one of the key features of the smart version of the hub is its ability to control the speed and the output power of the motor. As for the simple version of the hub, a motor connected to it will always run at the maximum speed. We should also keep in mind that the new Powered Up motors are quite powerful. Although the model includes several types of overload protection, there is no safety mechanism between the motor and the gearbox. And if there is a problem or jamming in any of the mechanisms, all the power coming from the motor can cause severe damage to the gearbox. The gearbox takes the most of the room inside the aircraft, but there is still some below the gears and towards the rear ramp. This provides additional playability as you can transport, for example, a bunch of pencils inside the aircraft.

What this list has: All of the Orange liftarms and panels and system parts in the part list above, but in Red. That means it does include the parts in Orange exclusive to this set, but those parts are listed in Red. DO I NEED ALL OF THE PARTS IN THE LIST ABOVE TO RECONSTRUCT A REPLICA OF 42113 THAT HAS SAME COLOR SCHEME? There's no question about it. The gearbox is fundamentally flawed. There is too much power being driven through tiny plastic gears which simply can't take it. The interior design of the engines brings no surprises. It is just a solid structure with lovely use of smaller panels for aerodynamic shape. Small turntables allow for the robust mounting and smooth tilting of the engines.

With the lately results like color problems, design problems, it seems something is very wrong in that business scheme. The first thing I tried was to replace them with bushes and elastic bands but it did not transfer enough torque so it didn't work. Licensed IPs like Indiana Jones and Star Wars have also allowed LEGO to make sets with military themes that weren't modern or real. Indiana Jones set number 7198 included an armed Pilatus P-2 with Luftwaffe markings from The Last Crusade and set number 7683 featured the fictional Nazi flying wing bomber from Raiders of the Lost Ark. Under the Star Wars license, LEGO has created molds for fictional blasters that come from the galaxy far, far away. Yes because this set has a dumb Power Up Battery Box that powers the L-motor. Without the battery box obviously the motor wont work. The only new part in the set is the Powered Up battery box which, at last, enables PU motors to be simply switched on and off without the need for the complexity of hubs and smartphones. Technic Curved Panel 3×13 in DBG (18944 / 6303446) Why has LEGO® 42113 Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey been cancelled? The new battery box has been officially released by Lego as a standalone set with the set number 88015. You can buy it directly from online Lego shops. The lower one on the other side raises and lowers the wheels, which when retracted, fit neatly into the body.
