Sylvaneth are the closest successors to the Wood Elves of Warhammer Fantasy. The Wood Elves were a combination of your traditional skulky tree-flavored elves mixed in with dryads. Sylvaneth take it a step further, with an army composed of Dryads and elves who have been fused with dryads, to make a very tree-based army. On the table, Sylvaneth are a pretty adaptable force, they have access to some good wizards, decent archers and respectable front line melee units Strengths If you fancy vengeful spirits of the forest, willing to do whatever it takes to keep those who would despoil their territory from harming even a single branch, the Sylvaneth might be just right for you. Sylvaneth players will love the new summoning rules, with both Alarielle and the Branchwraith now able to bring on new models mid-game. The latter will be able to do this through a tweaked version of her spell, Roused to Wrath, while the former has a new table to use with her Soul Amphorae ability: Elite warriors whose presence hones the sylvaneth into a swift and deadly weapon of singular purpose, the Free Spirits are the instrument of Alarielle’s will. Led by a Spirit of Durthu, the Kurnoth Hunters move with haste to fulfil the will of their vengeful Queen. [4] Military [ ] None amongst Alarielle’s children knows precisely who or what the Protectors were, or whether these beings were even real. They know only that a notion persists, an idea of nobility and selfless guardianship that the Noble Spirits still model themselves on today. Many amongst the Noble Spirits even come to physically resemble the ghosts of the Protectors that echo in their memories, and draw the magic and minerals of the land up through their roots to craft weapons like those the Protectors are believed to have wielded. If this terrain feature is set up as a medium or large Awakened Wyldwood, all of its scenery pieces must be set up touching so that they form a circle with an area of open ground inside the circle. This area is considered to be part of the Awakened Wyldwood terrain feature. And then came the moment of sudden bloom. The Queen of the Radiant Wood was reborn from the land she loved, and as she rose, she sang. All across Ghyran, the spirit-song swelled, pouring out into every realm – a cascading, tumbling, soaring crescendo of hope, fury, loss and exhilaration. Alarielle’s children felt their mother’s might, even as the servants of Nurgle quailed. Wrongs would be righted, the lands would be healed and places of power would be reclaimed. Revealed – New Sylvaneth Have Been Empowered by the Rite of

Dryads are your cheap battleline and if you have 2 or more clumped together this can be a very cost effective way to save them, it’s rather difficult to set up in practice though. Skaven, Maggotkin of Nurgle, Seraphon and Beasts of Chaos all appear to be having great success against Sylvaneth. Meanwhile at the other end of the table Sylvaneth perform well against Idoneth Deepkin, Ironjawz, Daughters of Khaine and Fyreslayers. The Woehammer GT While your units are within 6″ of a wintry terrain feature, each unmodified roll of a 6 to hit in melee scores you two furious blows instead of one, representing the cold embers of their rage. Just imagine how many hits a squadron of just three S Karthaen is a key fighter in Skaeth’s Wild Hunt, capable of casting spells and possessing an excellent action on his fighter card. By using his Hunting Horn, this fighter can provide you with some much-needed re-rolls. An excellent opening play for Skaeth’s Wild Hunt is to use Karthaen’s Hunting Horn, before sending Skaeth to deliver a devastating blow to one of your enemy’s smaller fighters in the next activation.Army Ability: Courage for Kurnoth –Add 1 to bravery for units wholly within 12″ of a Friendly Hero. Long seasons of death and disaster had withered Alarielle's hearthwood and embittered her spirit. Her best efforts to heal the land had failed. Betrayals had eroded her faith in even her own beloved children, and in a fit of madness, she had banished her remaining sons of Durthu. No longer believing that victory over Nurgle was possible, the Queen of the Radiant Wood retreated to the hidden vale of Athelwyrd and left the last enclaves of sylvaneth to fight on alone. Recently, Kurnoth hunters have taken a bit of a staring role as more elite infantry and being able to reroll all hits with no limitations is pretty nice, especially when greatswords are combined with the command ability.

Tramble Underfoot –At the end of the combat phase you can nominate one enemy unit within 1″and roll a die for each model in the unit. For each 4+ deal a mortal wound. A 4+ for a free ability like this is pretty nasty. In the days when Sigmar’s pantheon still reigned, the sylvaneth ruled much of Ghyran. They existed in harmony with nature and – for the most part – with the mortal tribes of the Jade Kingdoms. There was danger, of course, from rampaging beasts and hostile barbarian tribes. The Wargroves of the courageous Noble Spirits crushed each of these threats as they arose, fulfilling their role as protectors so that the Dryads could nurture the lands and live in peace. All were united by the spirit-song that echoed through their souls, and they enjoyed a concord with all living things. Alarielle looked upon her creations and knew peace at last. [1g]So grew the new enclaves of the sylvaneth, and from them, the song rang out once more. These were places of ethereal pulchritude. The vast Hunter’s Moon, the Singing Mountains, the Citycaverns of Briardell and countless others echoed the beautiful wonder of the sylvaneth homeland. [1h] A lot of your casters gain buffs from being near a Wyldwood anyway, like the Branchwraith so this incentivizes what you were doing anyway. B- Hunter's Vengeance - The Mistwoods of Shae-Rahat rang to the sounds of battle as the sylvaneth Wild Hunt pursued monstrous quarry. Led by a spearhead of Kurnoth Hunters and Tree-Revenants, a muster of clans hunted the Great Unclean One Gruxulok. Cornered and outnumbered, this hated plague-bringer and his followers found themselves fighting a desperate battle in which the very landscape itself turned savagely against them. Since you’re likely leaning in on magic to play this, not a bad deal. Notable rule here is that rules like this usually establish if your General is a Wizard you have to take this, and it doesn’t say that. So no getting around it.
