About this deal

Whether you want to rave in the kitchen or to add tension and drama to your music and movies, a subwoofer is the answer! Placement of your subwoofer is important. Finding the right place is a matter of getting down on your hands and knees, moving around and listening to some well-recorded bass, with the sub in your normal listening position. When you've found where it sounds best, relocate the sub there. Designed and manufactured in the UK to specifically fit the Sonos one, one SL, and gen 1 play: 1 all cable ports and buttons remain easily accessible when in use. The floor stands feature acoustic padding to eliminate audio vibrations and improve sound quality by raising your speakers from surfaces and placing them at optimal listening height. Both strong and stable they are extremely easy to set up with adjustable feet for leveling and sound dampening, the upright tube is designed for the power cable to run through creating a neat and uncluttered finish. It is therefore becoming increasingly common to have smaller 'satellite' left and right speakers, plus one or more subwoofers — a format often referred to as 2.1. The two refers to the main pair of stereo (left and right) speakers, while the '.1' refers to the limited-bandwidth subwoofer. In the same way, a surround sound system is often denoted as 5.1, meaning five main channels plus a subwoofer to handle the low frequency effects channel (LFE). How the driver is mounted will be a factor, with a choice of forward, downward or sideways. Since bass is non-directional, the design doesn’t actually make a massive difference to performance, but which is best for you will depend on where you want to position the subwoofer. If it’s at the front of the room and near your main speakers, then a forward-firing sub can be a good choice.

They use premium quality robust material to stand strong enough to hold up to two hundred pounds weight. Moreover, it comes in an ideal shape to be compatible with the subwoofers and loudspeakers. If your subwoofer is ported (you’ll see a large hole into the cabinet) then you’ll want to keep this 6-12” away from the wall to allow airflow from the port.

In most homes, walls are parallel to one another and since apartments are smaller, they tend to be much closer to one another than we have been used to when seeing subwoofers in large party halls. When it comes to connecting a subwoofer, there are often a number of options available, primarily based around stereo and mono line level inputs using either RCA or balanced XLR connectors. These are also sometimes referred to as low-level or LFE (low frequency effects) connections. A downward-firing subwoofer mounts the bass driver in the bottom, and this approach works well in corners. The output of this style of subwoofer can be increased by using it on a solid floor, though doing so is best avoided if your room is on an upper floor with people below. If you have a smaller room, or are thinking of using multiple subs, then a sealed design is probably best because it’s able to deliver a more nuanced performance. If you’ve got a bigger room or plan on using a single sub, a ported model will energise a larger space. What’s the difference between passive and active subwoofers? Unfortunately, we also need to look at the cable set up and how we need to have the placed for the right set up. Optimal Subwoofer Placement

Weight: You will get different sizes of speakers available in the market. More giant speakers are a bit heavier than the smaller ones. Therefore, you should avoid pairing a more prominent speaker with a more undersized stand.A lot of the better specified subwoofers include a phase-adjustment facility (either switched or continuously variable), which can help to correct for the mechanical and electrical phase differences between the satellites and the subwoofer. Unfortunately, though, not all designs are equally effective and, more importantly, phase correction is not the same as delay compensation. If the subwoofer is located nearer to, or farther from, the listener than the satellites, some delay compensation will be required to achieve the correct time alignment. Though some bass-management or surround sound monitoring systems incorporate this function, not all do so. Prices valid in stores (all including VAT) until close of business on 28th November 2023.
