South-Facing RGB LEDs: The south-facing design enhances the lighting effects and allows compatibility with Cherry-profile keycaps, offering more customization options. Full-sized keyboards are the go-to for people who need to do lots of data entry and require frequent use of the number pad. Full-sized keyboards are standard in offices and is what most people think of when they imagine a keyboard. The full-sized keyboards come standard with a number pad, home cluster, function keys, and arrow keys. The number pad is typically located on the right, but some keyboards come with it on the left. In my early career, I worked as an editor of scholarly science books, and as an editor of "Dummies"-style computer guidebooks for Brady Books (now, BradyGames). I'm a lifetime New Yorker, a graduate of New York University's journalism program, and a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
The RK Royal Kludge RK89 mechanical keyboard has a 2 port 2.0 USB hub which is ok, I guess. I mean it’s okay for a mouse and the like, but I can’t understand why it isn’t 3.0 since 2.0 has all but been replaced. Not a deal-breaker for me. I’ve never really used them on any of the other keyboards I’ve had. I guess it can be a benefit if you’re short on ports. The CNC-machined chassis offers a premium and durable build, and the RGB side lighting adds a touch of style and customization. It’s important to note that this kit comes as a barebone base, meaning it does not include keycaps or switches. This leaves the choice entirely up to the user, allowing for a completely personalized keyboard that suits individual preferences and aesthetics. Pros: Hot-Swappable Switches: Users can easily customize their typing experience by swapping switches without soldering, providing flexibility and convenience. Limited Key Clearance: The compact layout may lead to challenges during manual disassembly, potentially causing accessories to fall off or become damaged. Topre switches are quite unique as they are technically rubber dome, but the feel is often compared with a Cherry MX Brown. They are very similar except the Topre switches produce a slightly *thunkier* sound and feel more mushy. The Keychron Q3 and Keychron Q2 offer a plethora of customization options, making them the perfect choices for those who wish to fine-tune every aspect of their keyboard. The EPOMAKER TH96 Pro and EPOMAKER RECCAZR KW75 take customization to the next level with hot-swappable switches and gasket-mounted structures, delivering exceptional typing experiences. Compact Tenkeyless Design: The TKL layout saves space and offers more room for precise mouse movements, making it great for gaming. While the keyboard is fast for gaming, there are huge tradeoffs in how comfortable they are to use. I might consider desoldering these switches and putting them on a custom keyboard if I ever find time to do so. The switches feel that good. Price: While not excessively expensive, the keyboard might be on the higher end of the price range for some users, especially when adding switches and keycaps.
In Windows, you can type any character you want by holding down the ALT key, typing a sequence of numbers, then releasing the ALT key.
