About this deal

Petski, Denise (2020-08-06). "Bobby Cannavale Joins 'Nine Perfect Strangers' Hulu Limited Series". Deadline. Archived from the original on 2021-09-15 . Retrieved 2020-08-06. Petski, Denise (2020-10-22). "Elizabeth Mitchell Joins 'Outer Banks'; 'Nine Perfect Strangers' Casts Hal Cumpston". Deadline . Retrieved 2021-09-22. I read The Husband’s Secret by the same author a long time ago, but I hadn’t been particularly enthusiastic about it, so hadn’t been planning on revisiting Moriarty’s writing.

The book title is wrong, I tell you! The nine people aren’t all strangers: There is a couple and there’s a family of three. The editor in me just hates that the title isn’t accurate. (I need to get a life, lol.) The girls move from Boston to Pennsylvania, where Leah has lined up a high school teaching job and hopes to start a new life. It’s certainly not Boston. Agreeing to tell each other nothing more than their first names, Olivia and James embark on a torrid affair. But the more time they spend together, the more Olivia begins to realize her summer fling is turning into a powerful connection…and that the magnetic man she’s falling in love with might not be what he seems at all. Nine people, all from very different walks of life, arrive at Tranquillum House, a highly recommended health resort. Each of them is coping with various life issues, from simple domestic uncertainties, or huge family problems, to marital woes, and weight loss goals. I read this book over the summer and failed to review it. I now remember nothing about it. I even made 21 highlights to serve as reminders to myself . . . . . but nada. I’m telling you folks . . . .

Movie / TV Show Adaptation

Plot: Intriguing, clever, thought-provoking, suspenseful, perfectly-paced, absorbing, enjoyable and highly entertaining. Frances was my FAVORITE guest and she is hilarious. She is also a down and out romance writer. She can't decide if Masha is mad, crazy, nuts and unhinged or perhaps shes a "genius" and really odd, alternative, intense, excessively tall and exotic. No one can seem to figure her out! These people and others expect that their stay won't be all pampering and relaxation, but they're not prepared for all that the health resort is going to throw at them. It's going to take some work to make change happen, but they have no idea just how far the director of the resort is willing to take things. It's going to be more than fasting, yoga, massages, and hikes in the beautiful countryside. In some sense, their very survival may be at stake—certainly their willingness to fight for themselves will be challenged.

Add suspense, humor, insight, a good plot, and decent writing, and you have yourself an excellent book. I was thoroughly entertained. As excited as I was to read this, I had a hard time getting into the story. A few of the decisions Leah made really annoyed me and I had a hard time connecting with her. There really was a lot going on. I started feeling like things weren't coming together and I was a bit confused. Like so many other readers, I was completely mesmerized by Megan Miranda’s story told in reverse, All the Missing Girls. So imagine my excitement at the mere thought of a follow-up, let alone actually holding it in my hands. On the run from a bad relationship, Emmy is desperate to leave Boston as well, so she involves Leah in her plan. The two head to a small town in Western Pennsylvania, where Leah gets a teaching job, and they can both keep off the grid. Leah and Emmy live on parallel schedules, and the two rarely if ever see each other for more than a few minutes, especially when Emmy starts dating someone new. But Leah keeps getting the sense that Emmy is still on her guard, that she's waiting for something to happen. The journalist in her does whatever she can to find out what happened to Emmy, but.. who is Emmy really?
