Cayde directs the Guardian to find Ikora on the Jovian moon of Io (which the Traveler had partially terraformed until the Darkness arrived), where she had gone to find answers about the Traveler. New modes have been added via expansions, including "Elimination" ( House of Wolves), a similar mode to Skirmish except divided into nine rounds in which the team must kill all three of their opponents at once, [18] "Rift" ( The Taken King), a six-versus-six capture the flag-like mode where players must deliver a "Spark" to the opposing team's base, killing enemies in its radius, [19] and "Supremacy" ( Rise of Iron), a six-versus-six mode where players drop crests when killed and points are scored by picking up crests dropped by the enemy team.

This activity puts two teams of four against each other to defeat AI opponents from one of the games different faction's/races (Cabal, Fallen, Hive, Vex, or new with forsaken Scorn), collect their motes and then bank them. For armor, the helmet, gauntlets, chest, legs, and class item slots have remained unchanged, but the artifacts slot has been replaced with one for a player's clan banners. The game ends with a posthumous voiceover from the Speaker, reminding all that the Light can never be stopped.

Alongside this, they partnered with Google to offer Destiny 2 on Stadia, a new game streaming service.As of September 2015, players who do not own The Taken King or Rise of Iron expansions only have access to three-versus-three and six-versus-six Crucible playlists on previous maps with assorted modes, and no longer have access to playlists for individual modes. The expansion also introduces weapon crafting, initially with gear found in the Witch Queen expansion but eventually working in legacy equipment. Players also earn reputation with other vendors, such as the Vanguard and Crucible, by doing playlists or bounties for that vendor, which also have their own set of legendary items. Players earn Valor in quickplay matches while Glory is earned in competitive matches, with each new rank earning greater rewards.

The cornerstone of that is a great cinematic story that's been a real focus with a great cast of memorable, relatable characters, coupled with some very nice ways to make the game more accessible to a casual player.
