About this deal

The ruthless pursuit of territory, of superiority by the rival gangs the Bluds and the Soldiers was not pleasant to read, yet London’s real experience as a detective gave it an all too horrifying reality. I was very curious to read Ryan’s thoughts, he is a fifteen-year-old drug dealer, who’s friend gets stabbed. Kate London’s novel takes this scenario further when a turf war and the stabbing of a teenage boy threatens to escalate and potentially disrupt a secretive two year operation into the Eardsley Bluds and their leader, Shakiel Oliver, who is intent on illegally trafficking guns into the country and onto the streets named Operation Perseus.

This gives a much wider view of knife crime and how it affects different people, especially the teenagers at the bottom of the totem pole. The majority of pages are undamaged with some creasing or tearing, and pencil underlining of text, but this is minimal. So, to conclude, this is a very realistic and believable novel about teenage criminals and police work, filled with very amusing characters, and twisty plot. Awesome story line, lots of "main" characters, all interlinked and coming together at the end to inevitably catch the baddie! It is clear from our first introduction to Sarah Collins that we are already supposed to know these members of the Police Force. The story reunites Gemma Whelan as DS Sarah Collins, with Tahirah Sharif as PC Lizzie Adama, Jimmy Akingbola as DC Steve Bradshaw and Emmett J Scanlan as DI Kieran Shaw. The subject matter couldn’t have been more timely or relevant, as night after night we hear of another stabbing, of another, often young person in our cities. Detective Inspector Sarah Collins and her team are tasked with finding the killer and before long she is once again crossing paths with Detective Constable Lizzie Griffiths.

Ryan Harris, witnesses his friend’s murder and is left reeling by his death and panics when he’s arrested for a fight he got into, a few days before. It’s highly topical book no less relevant because it’s fiction There’s a sense of inevitability running through it.Gallowstree Lane has a high-stakes drugs and gangs storyline with Jimmy and Emmett’s characters taking major roles.

I didn't realise this was the third in the Collins and Griffiths series set in London, but this works just fine as a standalone. Grove Press An imprint of Grove Atlantic, an American independent publisher, who publish in the UK through Atlantic Books. So, a little about the characters, Lizzie is a single mother, who got pregnant after the affair with a fellow detective, who was married. I really liked that the author analyzed childcare issues in this book, and how difficult is to be a mother, who wants to work and take care of her baby by her self.

Description of the book: When a teenage boy steps out of the shadows of Gallowstree Lane and asks a passer-by for help, it’s already too late. Just published today with Corvus Books, it is described as ‘an explosive police procedural about the epidemic of gang violence in London’. The two different police investigation came to a head as the arms deal was about to be carried out and evidence is hardening on other crimes.
